There is no installation process. Put the QOTM application on your hard drive and double click to run. Applescript, however, does need to be installed properly on your machine (See Requirements in Introduction).
The Windows:
Display Quotes Window:
This is the main screen that opens with a randomly chosen quote displayed in a frame. From here you can continue to display quotes randomly, move to the other windows, remove the quote currently being displayed or copy the currently displayed quote and author to the clipboard (for printing or pasting into your projects).
Add Quotes Window:
When the Add Quotes window is activated, type your quote into the top box. Then select an author from the popup menu or choose "Other...", if you don't see the author's name on the list. If you have chosen "Other...", another box appears into which you can type the name of the author. The default choice is "Anonymous" if you choose to do nothing. Then press the Enter Quote button, it will ask to make sure you have selected the author you want. If its OK, there is a check to make sure the quote isn't already on file, and if it isn't, it is added to the list and ready for accessing!
Find Quotes Window:
The Find Quotes window appears below the frame of the Display Quotes window so that when a quote is found you can immediately see it. You can search 'by Author' or 'by Phrase' by choosing from the 'Select Search' popup menu. If 'by Author' is chosen you can either select an author in the 'Author' popup menu or choose 'Other' and enter the name in the text box. If 'by Phrase' is chosen, enter the word or group of words you wish to search for, in the text box. When the parameters of the search are entered press the Find Quotes button and the search is on.
When one quote is found it is displayed in the Display Quotes frame. When more than one is found, the Find Quotes window is replaced by a Page Window that lets you browse all of the found quotes. If you find what you are looking for, just return to the Display Quotes window and you can copy or remove the quote from there.
Printing:
Printing of a quote is accomplished by selecting 'Copy to Clipboard' in the Display Quotes window and then opening an application into which you can paste the selected quote. Printing is then done from there. (This inconvienence will be corrected when the new version of FaceSpan is released. If you have registered, I will let you know when that happens).
